My story from a similar thread a while back...

I was the same way. During a garage sale a young hippy looking couple was buying stuff for their new apartment. I asked the music they were into, guessing our musical tastes were similar. We'd been to some of the same shows and they were confirmed post-Jerry Deadheads. They looked around and I got to thinking. When they paid for all their stuff I told them to hold on, that I had a gift for them. I brought back three wooden Napa Valley tape racks filled with my best 300 GD & JBG shows. Then went back inside and got three boxes of the other cassettes: GD, JGB, Phish, WSP, Hendrix, Floyd, Arlo Gutherie, Clapton, Branford Marsalis, etc... They were overjoyed. Ecstatic. It felt so good to 'miracle' my tapes to someone who would treasure them with the loving care I had. I saw her once again, a couple months later, working at a grocery store. She recognized me and thanked me for all the good tunes. She said she told all her friends and they were blown away that the treasure chest of tapes she came across. I should note that I did pull out 6.22.73 Vancouver BC, 10.20.74 Winterland, and 2.26.77 Swing because they had sentimental value and were of high quality.

I am having a tag sale on 5-8 (it's a sat. morning. I know the first thought many of you folks had!), so i think in good karma I'll lug'em out. I do like the rental car idea, and in my day we would have made a day of it(gotta lot of 'em).

I love the idea of 'miracling'(a new word???) the cassette tapes...especially to some young person just discovering the Grateful Dead! What a great idea! It's kind of like paying it forward! I received a really cool show (on cassette tape) that was literally thrown through my window while at a stop light on a high way! The guy in the other car said "here, I think you'll like this" and drove off! I still have it somewhere-something I'll keep forever!

hmmm....was that in the early 1990's, going west on Hyw580
near Dublin, Ca? I've frisbeed quite a few into moving cars -
I've given away hundreds of Cassettes thru the years.
All of them High Bias tapes. And I still have a shitload of tapes!
